What we are doing to achieve sustainability
- Developing a learning environment that is not only able to refine the personality of students, but also to make them well educated.
- Creating higher education opportunities for both genders and regardless of race, religion or color, through scholarships and various support programs.
- Achieving a clean university environment based on the use of renewable energy sources (Solar Energy).
- Combating desertification and increasing green areas and green vegetation cover through planting plants appropriate to the Aqaba environment.
- Treating sewage water and reusing it for agricultural and irrigation purposes.
- Increasing students ’and community’s awareness of rationalizing water consumption and contributing to curbing the unjust use of water resources.
- Developing the local community, empowering women and youth, and activating their roles in serving humanity.
- Partnerships with local community institutions, especially those interested in building green.
Aqaba University of Technology (AUT) believes that sustainability is a need for optimal utilization usage of natural recourses. This is to not only preserve these resources and ensures their sustainability, but also achieve well-being, health and good education for humanity. AUT also thinks that itself is one of the educational institutions that has a duty to achieve all the seventeen goals of the United Nations toward sustainability.
